It has been said that adversity breeds character, and 2022 certainly brought a fair amount of character building moments to my life. As a trainer, I've relied on fitness for years to help save me in difficult moments, but the stress of life, new loss, perimenopause and motherhood often left me feeling like I was crumbling inside, rather than rising to new heights.

Something clicked in late September when I saw the photo on the right. How did I let my health and fitness escape me so badly and what was I going to do to fix it? I knew at that moment it was time to let go of my (valid) but tired excuses and begin to RISE to the person I know myself to be deep inside.

You see, for me, it's never been about how I look per se, but more importantly how I feel and what that feeling does to empower my life. The girl on the left was tired, stressed, sad and completely overwhelmed with all that life had served up over the past year. The death of so many people I treasured, and, if I'm honest, the death of myself in so many ways.

So October 1st I decided to stop leaning into my story of the tired, exhausted business woman and mother and start leaning into the story I wanted to write for myself going forward. October 1st was the moment I decided to RISE. In just over three short months, I'm down 44 pounds and feeling like myself more and more by the day. I'm not perfect, frankly I never will be because I'm human, but with dedication, hard work, directed effort and patience, I'm a lot closer to my full potential going into 2023.
